Measuring Proficiency Intro 2

When assessing language proficiency of an ELL using IPT II Oral, you will need to maintain the following information:

1. Student’s name, 2. I. D. # & Birth Date, 3. Grade & School, 4. IPT Score Level, 5. NES/LES/FES Designation, 6. Date the test was taken, 7. Teacher’s name, 8. Examiner’s name.

When applying IPT Oral, you must record the student’s score level (A, B, C, D, E or F) and the number of correct answers in that score level.

NES/LES/FES Designations Based on IPT II Score Levels

NES – Non-English Speaking; LES – Limited English Speaking; FES: Fluent English Speaking
Starting level for students with basic English skills:

If the student misses more than one item in the first 6 items on the designated level, start 1 level lower.
